Emeritní předseda poroty
Předposlední festivalový den 17. ročníku Kocianova Ústí naservíroval návštěvníkům Roškotova divadla výjimečný zážitek. 13. února letošního roku totiž významné životní jubileum oslavil emeritní předseda odborné poroty – profesor Ivan Štraus. K pětaosmdesátinám se dodatečně gratulovalo také v Ústí nad Orlicí a jak jinak než hudbou!
Koncert s názvem Pocta Ivanu Štrausovi koncipoval umělecký ředitel festivalu Pavel Šporcl jako vystoupení bývalých studentů nestárnoucího profesora HAMU, který během své bohaté pedagogické kariéry působil také na nedaleké pardubické konzervatoři.
Mezi gratulanty nechyběli dva houslisté, kteří se coby studenti profesora Štrause zapsali do laureátské listiny ústecké soutěže. Impozantní je, že jejich úspěchy dělí neuvěřitelných 38 let! Zatímco Leoš Čepický triumfoval na Kociance v roce 1981, Daniel Matejča se v květnu 2019 stal posledním laureátem před vynucenou covidovou přestávkou.
Svému pedagogovi přišli nejhezčím možným způsobem poděkovat i další jeho studenti. Mezi jinými členka Barocco sempre giovane Iva Kramperová, její kolegyně z Komorní filharmonie Pardubice Markéta Čepická či Roman Patočka, koncertní mistr FOK. Z důvodu nemoci nakonec nemohla do Ústí zavítat laureátka KHS z roku 2011 Eva Zrostlíková, a tak na posluchače čekalo malé překvapení. „Pan profesor nabídl, že osobně na koncertu vystoupí. V nové skladbě Lukáše Sommera Gala Kocian se tedy představil i náš jubilant,“ vysvětlil festivalový ředitel Pavel Šporcl.

A day before the end of the 17th Kocianka, the festival audience was presented with an extraordinary experience in the Roškot Theatre. On February 13th, 2022, the emeritus jury chairman, professor Ivan Straus, celebrated a significant life jubilee. His 85th birthday was now finally celebrated in Ústí in the form of music.
The concert called A Tribute to Ivan Straus was arranged by the festival director Pavel Šporcl in the form of a performance of former students of the HAMU professor (Music and Dance Faculty of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague). During his plentiful pedagogic career, he also worked at the Pardubice Conservatory nearby.
Among the students, there were two violinists who were also Kocianka laureates while studying under professor Straus. What is remarkable is that their achievements happened 38 years apart. While Leoš Čepický won the competition in 1981, Daniel Matejča earned the laureate title in May 2019, he was also the last laureate before the unexpected covid break.
There were also other former students, who came to express their gratitude to the professor. For example, Iva Kramperová, a member of Barocco sempre giovane, her colleague Markéta Čepická, a member of Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic, and Roman Patočka, a concertmaster of the Prague Symphony Orchestra. A competition laureate from 2011, Eva Zrostlíková, sadly could not attend the concert due to illness. That led to a little surprise for the audience. “The professor offered to perform at the concert himself. So, the new composition Gala Kocian by Lukáš Sommer is going to be performed by the man of the hour as well,” explained the festival director Pavel Šporcl.
