Belgian company Luthiers Sans Frontières gives a special prize for this year of Kocian Violin Competition – full size violin made by violin maker Lee Mun Tae, student of master Pier Luigi Aromatico Fantoni, in violin-making workshop in Cremona, Italy. The violin comes with a carbon fiber bow.
This violin is meant for a contestant who gives an outstanding performance, but does not own exceptional instrument. The award-winning student will be chosen by jury.
The company Luthiers Sans Frontieres (Violin makers without borders) is international non profit-making organization established in 2001 in Belgium. It is member of national center for organizational development and associates members from USA, Great Britain, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Italy and Switzerland.
LSF supports young violin makers in countries of their origin where violin making workshops do not exist. It plays very important role in their education so they can create a violin making tradition in their country.
Renowned violin makers from many countries come as volunteers in order to share their knowledge and experiences.
LSF company provides violin repairs to artists, orchestras and schools that do not have these services in their location.
It cooperates on original projects in Haiti, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Palestine, and others. They are also preparing new project for the Balkans.
